April 2006

I know we’ve been in the 21st Century for a while now, but it doesn’t seem like we’ve had much movement in the last few years. By we, I mean, women. And I’m talking about our progress (or lack of) being accepted as sexual beings.

Just trying to start up this website is a good example. Banks and merchant services and credit card processors – you’d think they’d never seen a vibrator before! They’d check out the website and their initial reaction was, “it’s a good-looking website.” Then they see a few dildos and say, “Sorry, we don’t do dildos.” Well, I’m sorry, me and my dildos and liberated women everywhere are not taking “No” for an answer!

I wonder, what did Hef do? And Flynt? Do you think they had problems being serviced? Do you think they’d mind if I called to get the name of their merchant services provider?

Ladies, they tell us we’ve come a long way (baby), but I think we still have a ways to go! Enjoying our sexuality is a positive thing, and we can’t let a “suit” or anyone else tell us otherwise!

What makes Blissable.com different from other adult-oriented websites is that this website is for women. And it’s not only about dildos and vibrators, it’s about women’s sexuality: our varied needs, our many moods and our diverse lifestyles.

Lauren Meister is President of Blissable.com and writer of the new column, Sex in the 21st C.
